Our Church
Westminster Church is a vibrant family congregation located in a north Marion neighborhood setting.
Reformed in its theology and worship, the congregation of 256 adherants enjoys its life together,
even as it reaches out to the greater Marion community and beyond in ministry and mission. Westminster

Our Preschool
-
Such pleasant weather for the start of Preschool! We thank God for the sunshine and breezes and for
all the children and families God has sent our way! Thank you, friends in the congregation, for the
prayers that have upheld this ministry since 1970.
-
look forward to the ice cream and cookie social for Preschool families on Monday, August 25, from 6:00
to 7:30 p.m.
-
The Preschool staff met August 5 and 6 to prepare for the opening of school and for welcoming the children.
Pastor Justin led an in-depth discussion with the staff about Session's directive for the future of the
childcare and education ministry at Westminster. Also participating in the meetings were Bonnie Nestleroad,
R.N., and Kresha Warnock, Ball State University faculty.
-
Staff members also completed first aid training with Sarah Saylors from the Red Cross and CPR instruction
with Debra Certain, Grant County Health Department. Beth Strange attended the "Organizational Skills"
professional development workshop, and Rita Guenin, "Preparation for Registration." Both are offered by
Child Care Solutions.
-
We celebrate the birth of Madison's sister and also the daughter born to former staff member Meredith
Kelley and her husband Greg. That family lives in Fairfield, Ohio.
-
We express our sympathy to the family of Donna Ruth. For many years she and her family hosted fall
Preschool field trips at the Whistle Stop Farm on Lagro Road.
-
Parkreation, Valparaiso, spread a new layer of shredded hardwood over the playgrounds. Chambers Property
Maintenance scrubbed, stripped, and waxed the tile floors. Custodian Marsha Spurgeon washed classroom
windows and furnishings. We appreciate these efforts that have helped us get ready for children.
-
Recent gifts to the tuition assistance fund and other Preschool needs have come from Lon & Jan Tuin,
Chuck & Carol Braun (in honor of their nine grandchildren), Bruner Dental Center, Ralph & Barb Pack
(in memory of Kurt Herriman), and Sally David (in honor of Rita Guenin). Thanks to all! We have received
to date about one-third of the amount needed for 2008-09.
